Chapter Four

The look of panic that enters Jennifer’s face is nothing short of adorable. “It’s okay,” I say. “I will go take a shower.”

Jennifer nods and calls out, “Coming!”

We scramble out of bed and try to restore order to it. The obvious wet patch in the center of the bed sticks out like an orange on a banana stand. Thankfully Jennifer is a quick thinker and places one of our bags over the patch and I slip into the bathroom and turn on the shower.

Water cascades from the showerhead to patter on the tile floor, I test the water and frown as freezing droplets cling to my skin. Hopefully this place has hot water. I leave it to run for a few minutes and check myself out in the mirror. I cannot help the small please gasp as my eyes land on all the marks Jennifer has left across my neck, chest and hips. She wasn’t kidding when she promised everyone would know who I belong too.

Something burns pleasantly in my stomach as I think about what belonging to a woman like Jennifer Jordan might look like long term.

“Slow down, Sarah,” I mumble. “You sleep with the woman once and you are already planning on a life together?” I shake my head as I test the finally warm water. “Could you be anymore of a typical lesbian? At this rate, four months from now you will be living together with three cats.”

I step under the spray and sigh as the warm water spreads over my body and loosens the tight muscles in my body. I grin at the pleasant ache I feel and my mind travels to naughty places as I get a flash of myself between Jennifer’s legs returning the favor. What she will taste like? A wave of goose bumps rolls across my skin in despite of the warm water as I feel wetness pool between my legs.

I switch off the water and towel myself down quickly. It is only once I am dry that I realize I came in here without any clothes. I pause and listen to see if Agent Macintosh is still in the room. After long moments of silence, I crack open the door and peek into the dim room. The bedside table lamps are now on, and the suitcase has been removed from the bed. Opening the door with more confidence, I strut into the room wrapped in only the tiny towel the motel provides. The material barely covers the tops of my thighs.
